In April 2007 we had a time of great blessing when we had our exchange visit with the Fruytier in Uddel. You can read the comments of one of our students:
We got up early Tuesday morning on the 24th of April. We arrived at Bristol airport where we met SOTL and Maranatha. We arrived at the school in Uddel at around midday. After having a filling lunch they showed us their MASSIVE school and sports hall. Later on that afternoon we played some name games. In one of the games we had to stand in front of a hanging sheet and when the sheet was dropped we had to say the other person’s name. It was simple for the Dutch pupils but for the English pupils it was a bit harder as the Dutch pupils had very confusing names. Later on that day we went to our host families where we did our own various activities.
On Wednesday we went to some of the Dutch lessons. The hardest one was Dutch. Did you know that the Dutch word for a combined school is scholengemeenschap? After lunch we did P.E in their magnificent, fabulous, gigantic sports hall. They had a climbing wall, proper trampolines, table tennis, swings of all sort and loads more. So that kept us busy for most of the afternoon. In the evening we had a brilliant meal cooked by the Dutch mums. Also that evening a man from the MAF came and told us about their missionary work and their planes that go out to foreign countries. After he finished we went back to our host families very tired.
On Thursday we got up bright and early and went to a bike shop and hired bikes that were not in ideal condition. We then were off to a good start. We got to the cycle path and we (the fast people) went flying and all of a sudden I heard a big crunch. My chain had fallen off! Along with the chain guard. So we stopped for a while and fixed the bike. So we started and by the time we got to the forest for lunch the chain had fallen off 3 times. While we where there was had a presentation about the history of the woods. So eventually we started again and my chain fell off again, and again and again and again and again and again and again. So after a while 2 Dutch boys decided to push me while riding their bikes. When we got back to the school we put the chain back on 1 more time and rode to the bike shop. And eventually we went back to our host families.

On Friday we got up had a nice Dutch breakfast and went to the school. At the school we got onto a bus and went to Enkhuizen where we got on a little boat and went to an outdoor museum. When we arrived there were flies everywhere! Also on the bus ride you could see clouds of flies all the way along the road. While we were at the museum we did a quiz and had to go around the museum to find answers for our quiz. Then we looked around and played some fun Dutch games. After we finished at the museum we went to look around the town. We then went back to school and had a very nice barbecue with lots of coke. Or was it Pepsi?
On Saturday we got up very early and left to go to the airport and flew back to England. Ahhh home sweet home.
